Meet my friend Ashley Quinones. She was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was 2 years old. A double-lung transplant saved her life, and a year ago she had a kidney transplant thanks to a live donor (talk about true friendship!). I could go on and on about how amazing she is. Clichés like “heart of gold” and “nerves of steel” and “fearless” and”selfless” all come to mind. The good news – Ashley’s transplant went well, and at her 1 yr check-up there were no signs of rejection.
So, putting her health concerns aside & in typical Ashley fashion – she has decided to help out someone else. One of Ashley’s friends has a son with CF. She is raising money for the CF Foundation, and our team is named for him “Walking Toward a Future: 3 Miles in Gabe’s Shoes.”
So, because I love my friend – I, too, am raising money for the CF Foundation. In April we will participant in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides walk. From $5 to $50 – $0.90 of every dollar goes towards CF research.
Most of us aren’t brave (or selfless) enough to go under the knife and donate an organ to a friend. However, we can all spare a few dollars. Will you help?
