This evening my son splashed innocently in the bathtub, unaware that life, nature, the world continued on even though he was not available to witness it. As thunderclaps resounded outside the bedroom walls, his frail voice echoed within the tiny bathroom, “rain?”
“Yes, honey, that is rain. You are correct,” I replied…multiple times.
Every 30 seconds the thunder announced its presence. Every 30 seconds the same conversation ensued. “Rain?” he would ask. “Yes, honey, that is rain. You are correct.” After the tenth time, the “?” turned to “!”
“Rain!” he timidly exclaimed. “Yes, again, you are correct. That is rain!”
There are many things you can say about a child. I will say, without a doubt, my child is observant….persistently observant.
